The most powerful weapon you can own is an open heart. The most powerful weapon you can be is an instrument of peace". ~Carlos Santana
Take a close look at the image above. I’m sure you see a pretty impressive collection of weapons. Each have their own specific use and can cause mild to significant injury. Think for a moment about which item you would choose to survive in a life threatening attack. Would it be the hammer, Swiss Army knife, chainsaw or something else? What is the reasoning behind your weapon selection?
What if I told you that none of these weapons or any others are what we should use? There is a current attack going on right now. That attack that you are up against right now cannot be defeated with any of the weapons of this world. You can try but it won’t you succeed. The battles you are fighting may appear to be physical but are actually spiritual. Fighting this battle with worldly weapons will be like you showing up with a knife to a gun fight. This battle is unseen but very real. As you know, it’s hard to fight what you can’t see.
God warns us, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”(2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV). I challenge you as you read this message that you (re)discover the power that is in Christ to defeat the enemy. Let’s gather the details together and walk this out together:
Who is the enemy? Satan
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
(Ephesians 6:12 NIV)
Who is the ally? Jesus Christ
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
(John 3:16-17 NIV)
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.”
(1 Peter 3:18 NIV)
Who is the target? You ( All Children of God)
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
(1 Peter 5:8 NIV)
What is the goal of the enemy? World Domination/ Collecting the souls of God's children
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
(John 10:10 NIV)
What is YOUR mission? To intercept the plan of the enemy and overthrow his power by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
(Ephesians 6:13 NIV)
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
(Matthew 28:19 NIV)
“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.”
(Philippians 1:27-28 NIV)
Don’t you see why your weapons that you used in this battle is important? I know, I know, this is may be a lot to take in if you’re new to the faith or if you’re are getting deeper in your journey. Here are some highly effective new weapons that you can use to fight the enemy in spiritual battle:
Weapon 1: Consistent Prayer
Weapon 2: Worship & Praise
Weapon 3: Fasting
Weapon 4: The Word of God
Weapon 5: Declaring the Word of God
Just as soldiers study the tactics of their enemy, as believers of Christ we have to do the same. So now we understand the enemy’s mission, it’s time for you to take on your mission against him. After all, we are on God team, The world of the Lord says, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
(Romans 8:31 NIV) I pray that God bless and keep you and his perfect will be done in your life. Now, child of God, pick up your new weapon and go to battle! Spoiler Alert: You WIN!!!
