I scheduled to meet with my mother and grandmother to have lunch. It was an idea we came up with to stay connected, since I moved further away in our big town. We all were anticipating this lunch to catch up and spend quality time. I got ready and cleaned up. As I did, I heard a voice in my head that said” don’t worry about the bill, it’s all taken care of”. I heard that and continued getting ready. I took some cash, put it into my purse, and left out of the door. We make it to the cutest lunch spot, The Hall on the Yard. We run into an old friend of the family that we hadn’t seen in awhile. We have a few good laughs together. The food was amazing and everyone was satisfied. We asked for the bill after finishing lunch. The waitress comes back and says,”Your bill was taken care of”. I stopped there just in awe. In that moment I remembered the voice I heard just an hour before.
God is a man of his Word. Not only for me but for you too. God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill. Numbers 23:19 NIV
I see you! You are waiting on the promise of God to be fulfilled. Maybe you are tired of waiting and wondering just when things will turn around , get better or change. I can assure you that he intends to keep his word to you. Just trust him.
Like most, I struggled with this concept for a long time in my life because I was used to being told things by people and not seeing much follow through. After awhile, words meant nothing to me. When it came to taking Gods word for it, I will admit I was unsure and shaky. However, I have seen what he can do and how consistent he is when I I trust him.
Here are a couple verses to meditate on to remind us of Gods outstanding record of keeping his word:
-“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.”
Psalms 145:13 NIV
-“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:11 NIV
-“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9 NIV
If you take nothing else from this message, remember God loves you and is a man of his Word. Other people may have let you down and did not keep their word, but GOD WILL KEEP HIS!!!
