Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision is the result of losing one’s peripheral vision, creating a more constricted ,focused and curricular range of vision. Our viewpoint is reduced to what is in front and in the center. Everything else that surrounds that central focus is blocked from our view. Tunnel  vision can also be defined as one’s ability to stay focused on one goal or assignment and to not become distracted with what’s happening while in pursuit. The keyword here is FOCUS.

Take either your right or left hand and form the letter “O with your fingers where your index, middle, ring and pinky finger all meet your thumb. When you have formed your fingers into the shape “O”, then place your hand formed in the O shape over one eye and close the opposite eye. You can use your free hand to cover that opposite eye if needed. What do you see??? How has your vision changed in doing this?  There is a big difference. Our vision transitions from general to very specific. This is the very essence of what it means to have tunnel vision. What we get is an entire shift in what we are allowed to focus our vision on. What does this means in relation to Christ?

God put each and every one of us here for a divine purpose. We all have unique gifts and talents that were meant to be shared to give God glory. Take me for instance, I have been journaling since I was a little girl. I found it to  be liberating and a way of expressing myself. Never would I have thought it would lead me to this blog where the focus is God and the  spirit filled messages he downloads into me daily. I’m just a unique vessel being used to share Gods way with a fresh and practical perspective. God wants us to make Him our central focus. We can’t be looking to other things when we should be focusing solely on Him.  God wants you to have tunnel vision when it comes to the assignment he has for you. The trick of the enemy is to distract us with “too much” or “extra” to keep you from connecting with God or being in God’s presence. The enemy knows that when we have tunnel vision, we are untouchable. However, out of the will of God, we are extremely exposed and vulnerable.

With Tunnel Vision:

  • the focus is on Christ first

  • the focus is forward

  • the focus is faith

  • the focus is on love

  • the focus is on forgiveness

  • the focus is fixed and clear

Now, these are such a few of the many blessings of Tunnel Vision. But the curse of not having tunnel vision is no clear vision at all. That is not how we are rolling in 2023! Proverbs 3:6 says, “ in all your ways, submit to him and he will make your paths straight”. Simply put God is our guide but we have to be in tune with him. God has tunnel vision when it comes to us, he expects the same in return. Who else would send their only son to die on cross for us? I’ll wait…… Thats right nobody but God!

Lock in on those dreams, goals, business ideas, and ministries God has uniquely created you for. The only way to get it is to have “ Tunnel Vision”! God has given us a great example, in Jesus to follow. Keep your eyes on the purpose God has for you. God hasn’t forgotten about you.
